This prairie style home located in Spring Green, WI was inspired by the design and architectural style that was made famous by Frank Lloyd Wight. To achieve the Prairie Style Charm that the client wanted, FLOOR360 design consultant Katie Ackerman recommended using natural materials, pairing warm natural hardwood flooring with luxurious wool and natural stone.
The organic nature of this material combination lends style to this home by layering warm tones with textures found in nature. The hardwood flooring is from Canada’s finest hardwood mill, Mercier. This design called for a special wire-brushed finish on a beautiful Oak with a Gunstock Matte stain. The perfect fit for this unique home. (Hardwood: MercierWire Brushed Oak/Gunstock Matte. Floor Tile: RomaAYE/Rustic Remnant)
The kitchen backsplash is a design element that brings some color into the kitchen with a mosaic glass tile behind the cooktop. Not only does the glass tile provide a cleanable surface for the chef in this home, but also a playful accent for a space that has much linear, natural style. (Tile: MilanoMOR/Amber)
The Master bathroom shower design combined a warm tile with a large format porcelain tile with a textured surface. To juxtapose the natural stone appearance of the porcelain tile with a modern textured tile was intended to combine the past with the present. (Field tile: ModAVA/Crema. Accent Tile: PorcONA/White Matte)
The guest bathroom shower design is again very reminiscent of the prairie style that we all know and love. The field tile is a warm porcelain that resembles the look of a natural stone and is paired with a decorative accent strip that is very clean and simple yet almost architectural in nature with a resemblance to a dental molding that we would see in the styling of Frank Lloyd Wright home. The modern plumbing fixtures and recessed storage niche with cleanable sill-type shelves make the shower a functional piece of art! (Filed Tile: ModAVA/Crema. Accent Tile: TrentoPP/Empire Beige)
