Installation of the Month Luxury Vinyl Plank

luxury vinyl plank

This new construction home built by Alterra Design Homes has a farmhouse interior design style with luxury vinyl plank flooring on the upper and lower levels. FLOOR360 interior designer Courtney Wollersheim helped the homeowners select this high performing luxury vinyl plank that compliments their style perfectly while providing the scratch resistance and performance they need.

upper level flooring

The upper level of the home needed a LVP that provided a warm and comfortable vibe. It’s a open concept space with the living room and kitchen area that opens to a sunroom. For continuity sake the same flooring is used in the other rooms on the main level, like the mud room and home office. If your home is active with kids and pets or frequent entertaining, choose a LVP with a thicker wear layer so you’ll have extra scratch and wear resistance.

lower level flooring

On the lower level the LVP selected has a cooler tone. There are some features in the space that have a black or grey finish so the color of the wood gives an overall cohesive look. LVP has strong resistance to moisture and water damage so it’s a great choice for lower level floor covering. When selecting LVP for your lower level it’s important to evaluate your sub floor and choose the right underlayment and flooring to provide the best moisture protection, sound absorption and warmth.
