DESIGN FOR A DIFFERENCE CHARITY MAKEOVER REVEAL SATURDAY OCTOBER 12
FLOOR360 begins makeover work at Wil-Mar Neighborhood Center
on September 29, completed space reveal is October 12

MADISON, WI (September 4, 2019) – FLOOR360, leading provider of design-driven flooring
announced that the staff and board of Wil-Mar Neighborhood Center will see their ‘new’ facility
for the first time during a private event on Saturday October 12 after receiving a free Design for a Difference
Makeover. The Design for a Difference Madison design team with the generous help of area
businesses will begin installing flooring and their top-secret designs on September 29, and work
around the clock every day until October 12.

“FLOOR360 is looking forward to providing the fifth free makeover to a Madison area non-profit
through our sponsorship of Design for a Difference, but we couldn’t do it without the giving
spirit of the design community and area business donors” said Bob Tobe, CEO of FLOOR360.
Gary Kallas, Executive Director of Wil-Mar Neighborhood Center commented, “The staff can’t
wait to see the transformation and build our community with the services they depend on in a
whole new space for the next 50 years.”

The makeover process began on April 4, 2019, when FLOOR360 announced that Wil-Mar
Neighborhood Center would receive a free interior makeover of their facility. Soon after that,
forty-four interior design professionals met and volunteered their skills to help re-design the
facility. The project goes through four phases and the design details are kept secret until reveal
day on October 12:

• Planning – April and May
• Designing – June and July
• Procuring Elements – July through September
• Installation – October

FLOOR360, Design for a Difference-Madison, the local design community and area businesses
have donated over $1.6 million dollars in materials, labor and services to provide five free
makeovers of Madison non-profit facilities. The four facilities that have received free makeovers
are the Respite Center at RISE Center for Families in 2015 $140,00 value, The Rainbow Project in
2016 $330,000 value, Centro Hispano in 2017 $600,000 value and East Madison Community
Center in 2018 $600,000 value. The makeovers truly are the gift that keeps on giving, with each
non-profit organization reporting a rise in program participation, improved recruitment and
increased revenue streams since the makeovers have taken place.

ABOUT DESIGN FOR A DIFFERENCE

Design for a Difference was launched as a contest in 2013 by the International Design Guild, an
alliance of upscale flooring showrooms in United States and Canada. Every year since then,
participating locally owned and operated showrooms have sponsored makeovers of non-profit
facilities in their own communities and shared the joy of giving with people who share a passion
for making great spaces for special places.
