MILWAUKEE, WI (July 15, 2019) – FLOOR360, leading provider of design-driven flooring, announced that Walker’s Point Youth & Family Center in Milwaukee, WI will receive the 2019 Design for a Difference-Milwaukee makeover free of charge. An all-volunteer group of interior designers will work with a dedicated group of local businesses, suppliers, installers, painters, and other volunteers to plan and provide a much-needed interior design makeover for Walker’s Point Youth & Family Center, 732 South 21st Street, Milwaukee, WI.

“We’re thrilled to launch the Design for a Difference movement in the Milwaukee area by providing Walker’s Point Youth & Family Center with a well-deserved interior makeover,” said Kelly Kuehn, FLOOR360 – Kashou Design Studio Manager. Audra O’Connell, Executive Director of Walker’s Point Youth Center commented on the space to be made over, “This is the heart of our home and right now it’s not working the way it should.”

There are three phases in the 2019 Design for a Difference-Milwaukee / Walker’s Point Youth & Family Center makeover process:

  • Planning – July and August
  • Designing and Procuring Elements – September
  • Installation – October

In April 2019, FLOOR360-Milwaukee announced in partnership with Milwaukee Magazine that Design for a Difference-Milwaukee will provide a free makeover to a Milwaukee area non-profit. Nominations for non-profit facilities were accepted during April and May. After visiting a short list of finalists, the selection committee decided to choose Walker’s Point Youth & Family Center as the first recipient of the Design for a Difference-Milwaukee makeover.

The Design for a Difference movement was launched nationally in 2013 by the International Design Guild (IDG). The movement brings socially conscious flooring showrooms together with interior designers and other businesses to make over much needed spaces at local charities. As a member of IDG, FLOOR360-Madison launched the Design for a Difference movement in Madison, WI by providing the first free makeover to a non-profit in 2015. Since 2015, FLOOR360 and Design for a Difference-Madison have completed four free makeovers, and given away over $1.5 million in materials, labor and services.
